LABORAL Kutxa, a cooperative banking project, has 1.2 million customers. It is now one of Spain’s most solvent financial institutions. The Lagun Aro brand provides a comprehensive range of insurance services for private customers, the self-employed and businesses. LagunAro, EPSV also manages its own social welfare system for all cooperative members.

ERKOP. In Retail, the agri-food group ERKOP is also part of the MONDRAGON Corporation, operating in catering, cleaning, livestock farming and agriculture.

Training and education have traditionally been a mainstay of the cooperative experience. In 1997, the Corporation founded Mondragon Unibertsitatea. The university now has more than 5,000 students, with campuses in Mondragón, Oñati, Eskoriatza, Markina, Goierri, Irun, Bilbao, Aretxabaleta and San Sebastián. The degrees at Mondragon Unibertsitatea include undergraduate, master’s and PhD courses in the fields of engineering, education, communications, business management, entrepreneurship and food science. MONDRAGON has also developed an integrated system of Innovation, Promotion and Knowledge (M4FUTURE), which involves the cooperatives themselves, research centres, the university, and the Corporate Promotion Centre.

Otalora, MONDRAGON’s Centre for Management and Cooperative Development, opened in 1984 as IKASBIDE, instructing the young postgraduates that the cooperatives in the Mondragon Cooperative Group had invited to combine their postgraduate studies at this centre with placements at their companies.

Vangurad SOSTENIBLE
This represents the contribution of the Corporation and its cooperatives to building a more sustainable world—economically, socially, and environmentally.
It primarily involves preparing assessments and evaluations of the environmental, social, and gender situation, as well as developing methodologies and solutions for improvement.
PERTE I Approved: Nine cooperatives (Embega, Eroski, Mundukide, Ausolan, Ecenarro, Ategi, MIK, Oiarso-Bexen Medical, and Vangurad S. Coop.) have received funding to carry out projects between February 2023 and February 2024. The total investment for the project amounts to €3,290,648, of which PERTE Vangurad Sostenible provides €968,058.97 in funding.
PERTE II Approved: 10 cooperatives (Oiarso, Ausolan, Embega, Division Componentes, Eroski, Vangurad S. Coop., MIK, Ategi, Mundukide, Fagor Automation).
The total project investment amounts to €4,429,203.63, of which PERTE Vangurad Sostenible is providing €1,492,249.94 in funding for activities between February 2024 and June 2025.
PERTE III Approved: 9 cooperatives (Ategi, Mik, Vangurad S.COOP., Ausolagun, Eroski, Urola, Huhezi, Embega, Oiarso).
The total investment for the project amounts to €3,935,727.85, of which the PERTE Vanguard Sustainable is expected to support a financing of €1,306,328.43 for actions between February 2025 and July 2025.
Vangurad DIGITAL
Aimed at promoting the digital transformation and modernization of cooperatives.
Through joint technological and training cooperation, initiatives are being developed in areas such as generative AI, data platforms and industrial Big Data, digital twins, cybersecurity, digital customers, intralogistics, automated process automation, business solutions (ERP, MES, CRM, etc.), and more.
Among the three PERTE calls for proposals in the digital field, five groups have been supported by the Vanguard Corporation. These thirty cooperatives have mobilized almost €23 million in digital projects with €4.7 million in funding provided by PERTE.

ITACA Project (PERTE II)
The objective of the ITACA Project is to develop intervention methodologies, work systems, and educational content aimed at fostering leadership and a cooperative culture, as well as disseminating the cooperative experience in the Basque Country, Catalonia, and Andalusia.
The project is driven by a consortium formed by Vangurad S. Coop., the Federation of Worker Cooperatives of Catalonia, the Confederation of Cooperatives of Catalonia, and the Andalusian School of Social Economy. The consortium’s budget amounts to €1,786,767.80 and it receives a 50% grant.

The INICIATIVA_ES COOPERATIVE ECOSYSTEM FOR TALENT project aims to develop and implement a comprehensive model to generate and attract new talent and transform/develop existing talent, thus addressing the challenges of business and societal transformation, ensuring the inclusion and employability of all individuals and fostering a sense of belonging to the region for young people. Four key social challenges have been identified to be addressed with the eight entities that make up the group.
The total investment in the project amounts to €1,483,422.83, of which the PERTE Vangurad Talento program is providing €615,185.11 in funding.

The INICIATIVA_ES ECOSISTEMA COOPERATIVO de TALENTO Project is financed by the Comprehensive Plan to Boost the Social Economy for the Generation of an Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Fabric, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU (years 2024 and 2025).

Its remit is the promotion and protection of consumers and, in particular, education and information on consumer affairs. Its main agent is Eroski Consumer, one of the most popular Spanish media on the Internet.

Mundukide is a cooperation project involving communities in developing countries, sharing experiences, resources and cooperative know-how in order to boost their self-management and integral development.
